Project Overview
An innovative polymer recycling plant in Geelong engaged ADFC to design a heavy-duty pneumatic conveying and fine dust separation system for their post-consumer HDPE and PET granulating lines.
The Engineering Challenge
High-speed rotary granulators produce high-velocity polymer flakes mixed with micro-plastic fines and static-charged fluff. The extraction plant needed to separate clean flakes for re-pelletizing while collecting ultra-fine dust in an automated filtration loop.

Our Engineered Solution
ADFC engineered a dual-stage separation and extraction system:
- High-Efficiency Cyclone Classifier: Primary vortex separation drops 98% of reusable plastic regrind into bulk discharge bins without filter blinding.
- Secondary Pulse-Jet Cartridge Collector: Collects airborne micro-fines through conductive anti-static spunbound polyester media.
- Static Elimination System: In-duct ionizing bars neutralize electrostatic charge build-up along the heavy-gauge zinc-plated duct network.
- Energy-Optimized Exhaust Fan: Variable airflow controls modulate system power consumption in sync with granulator line operational load.
Commissioning & Outcome
The solution improved plastic regrind purity, eliminated static cling blockages in transfer piping, and ensured a safe, dust-free manufacturing environment for facility operators.
