Project Overview
A national confectionery and food ingredient manufacturing plant in outer Melbourne required a sanitary dust control solution for their high-speed sugar milling, starch conveying, and bulk bag tipping stations.
The Engineering Challenge
Fine sugar and starch powders present significant deflagration (combustible dust explosion) hazards and require stringent food-contact hygienic design to eliminate product contamination risks and bacterial harboring points.

Our Engineered Solution
ADFC designed a stainless steel sanitary reverse-pulse filtration plant built to food-grade standards:
- 304 Stainless Steel Construction: Smooth crevice-free internal welds, sanitary quick-release inspection doors, and steep hopper discharge angles.
- FDA-Compliant PTFE Filter Media: Antistatic oleophobic membranes with high filtration efficiency down to 0.3 microns and complete food-contact certification.
- Explosion Protection: Certified flameless explosion venting devices and inline chemical suppressant explosion isolation valves.
- CIP Washdown Capability: Integrated internal clean-in-place spray headers for automated sanitisation during flavor changeovers.
Commissioning & Outcome
The sanitary extraction system maintains spotless packaging and blending rooms, preventing cross-contamination between product batches and providing complete peace of mind regarding combustible dust safety.
